This ride is a fundraiser for a program called Horses Easing Life's Pain (HELP) administered by CFCC & Associates, Inc. in Topeka, KS. The HELP program provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to children and adults suffering from a variety of mental health issues. Including, but not limited to, PTSD, Anxiety, Addiction, and Depression stemming from traumatic life events, i.e. Domestic Violence and/or Military Service. It is CFCC'S intent to provide care regardless of a person’s ability to pay.

The 6-mile ride consisting of 6 obstacles will be held on the South Shore/Rockhaven Trails of Clinton Lake, which include many interesting trails totaling approximately 35 miles. While exploring these trails, you will wander through forests, past open fields, along the lake’s shore and over the top of rocky hills. The surface is mostly packed earth, except on the sides of hills where it is rocky. Trees that are abundant along the trails include Osage orange, shagbark hickory, hackberry, eastern redcedar, and some American sycamore. White-tailed deer and rabbits are commonly seen in the area. On one side of the park, there is an Eagle's nest that can be seen with babies due this Spring. Campsites are located near the Trail head. The trails are open to both hikers and horseback riders, but camping is allowed only in the campground near the main Trail head. These campsites include picnic tables, grills and fire rings, some electric sites, and some with horse corrals. Restrooms, showers and water are also available. PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE 18 ELECTRIC HOOK UP CAMPSITES ($12) AND 30 NON-ELECTRIC CAMPSITES ($8). THESE CAMPSITES ARE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS THROUGH THE CORP OF ENGINEERS (785-843-7665) AND ARE NOT ABLE TO BE RESERVED. Proof of Coggins test is needed for horses coming from out of state.
