Entirely on private property, this ride showcases the beautiful acreage of central Oregon`s premier resort facility, Brasada Ranch. The trail meanders past the championship golf course, dips in and out of fun hidden canyons, and climbs the foothills of nearby Powell Butte. The ride exhibits very typical high desert country and allows riders to access land otherwise off limits. While the ride begins and ends on maintained wood chipped bridle paths, the mid portion follows some jeep tracks and does a bit of cross country. The footing is appropriate for well conditioned barefoot horses, though there are some rocky sections.
The 2010 ride received multiple compliments on how nice it was and how well marked the trail was. 2011 is even better.
Riders base out of the Rim Rock Riders facility at Brasada Ranch - a top notch equestrian facility with 220 matted stalls available for $25 per night. Camping with or without hookups is available on the grounds and deluxe accommodations are available through Brasada Ranch. A full service cafeteria is on the grounds and a convenience store is less than five miles away. This event runs concurrently with the Wild Trails Horse Expo, a huge event that focuses on everything related to trail riding. The Brasada Ranch CTC is part of a larger trail competition called the Trailogy. The other two phases run during the weekend on the same site. All the events are organized by and benefit the Central Oregon Wild Horse Coalition, a non-profit that works hard to find success for the many wild horses issues we face today. There are special divisions for mustangs!
Come be part of a huge trail riding celebration!
