World Renowned Trail Ride Critic Dutch Henry`s Ride Proclamation for-

Ride the Caja CTC - Santa Fe, NM - 8-28-10

Howdy Folks,

Shelley Green is throwin` a get-together at 7,000 ft elevation in the Caja Del Rio National Forest packed plum full of ridin`, vistin`, eatin`, and winnin`! She`s tossin` in a few challenges, too. Come ride with your friends, and try your hand at an ACTHA sanctioned CTC. You know, one of those casual competitions that are fun for everybody who can sit a horse; a ten mile easy goin` trail ride with eight natural obstacles so judges can keep score and hand out ACTHA Bucks, prizes and awards at lunch – This is a casual competition perfect for riders of all levels! If you trail ride…You can compete!

The gatherin` place is at the Headquarters Well of Caja Del Rio. Roll in Friday afternoon and set up camp. Shelley says it`d be handy if you carried in your own water. If you`d like to stable in Santa Fe, it`s less than ten miles. Contact Shelley for information. Plans are for a social hour at the trailers around dusk. A good time to swap ideas and tall tales.

Saturday breakfast is at 7:00, Ride Briefing at 8:00 – Ride Out at 9:00. You folks all know the great ridin` country out there and Shelley`s laid out a sweet course with obstacles rangin` from, "That`s a cinch." To, "Holy cow she made that one tough!" After the ride gather for lunch and while the Judges tally the score sheets and hand out all the prizes and awards, Alicia Nation will give a presentation on the New Mexico Mustang and Burro Association and their efforts to help the wild horses and burros.

Speakin` of Prizes – Shelley`s got grand surprises for – Most Unique Dressed Group and Individual – High Scoring Rescue Horse, and Mustang, and Long Ear (Donkey or Mule) – Rider who drove the farthest. As well as prizes for 1st-6th in, Open, Pleasure, and Junior divisions. Jackpot will be offered in Pleasure as well as Open, CASH ONLY sign up at registration.

No need to break camp Saturday night, stay on for a night of star gazin` and story swappin` because Shelley will lead a ride on Sunday morning to places most of you haven`t seen.

Please call your family and friends and help make this shindig a huge success. Not only does it promise to be a great deal of fun, but it`s a fund raiser for two wonderful organizations – The New Mexico Mustang and Burro Association, and Horses for Heroes of Northern New Mexico. Horses for Heroes provides therapy with horses, at no cost, to veterans and active duty military who`ve suffered physical or psychological injury. Many of the volunteers helpin` this ride run smoothly are from these two tremendous outfits – And the food is being cooked and served up by the Horses for Heroes group!

Call Shelley Green for more important details at 505-793-5417. To sign on for the ride go to www.actha.us – So get your costume, load you rig, call your friends and set out for the Headquarters Well of Caja Del Rio, for a high time of ridin` and visitin` – for a few great causes!

Gitty Up!

Dutch Henry

www.nmmba.org

The New Mexico Mustang and Burro Association is committed to correcting this false impression that wild horses are, by nature, dangerous, violent, and unsuited for domestication. We do this by sharing a true picture of wild horses and, where possible, sharing our personal experience with wild horses in domestication.
