COME FOR THE WEEKEND AND GET TWO RIDES IN. Saturday June 12: Louise Merrick Memorial CTC & Sunday June 13: TEXAS World Record Attempt CTC. Double the prizes, double the points, double the fun, all in one location! Both rides will be challenging, but in totally different ways. (You`ll have to come to see what we mean by that little hint!) The beautiful and rugged Hill Country State Natural Area bosts 5000 acres with 40-50 miles of trails. There are hills, dales, fields, streams, flat grassy areas and steep rocky climbs. Trailers are welcome to come in Friday night from 4pm-7pm to sign in and get your numbers. We will not be serving supper but will have food available for breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

All hook-ups and stalls have already been reserved. If you want to be put on a stand-by list, please call me at 210-373-3880. However, my veterinarian has covered runs available for rent by the night. He is about 10 miles from the rides location. Call to reserve at 830-796-3787. Primitive camping and generators are OK. Boots or shoes are highly recommended for horses.

For those of you who haven`t heard, ACTHA received the OK from the Guinness Book of World Records tm to try for the "largest competitive trail ride in history" on June 13. This ride will be part of it. There are over 70 ACTHA rides across the USA that day. Combined, we hope to become the largest competitive trail ride in history. ALL proceeds from this ride will go to horse charities.

Agenda:

Check-in Saturday evening 4-7 pm or Sun morning before 8:30 am

Breakfast: 7 am

Rider`s briefing: 8:00 am

Ride out: 9:00 - 11:00

Trail will take about 3 - 3 ½ hours, ~8 miles

Lunch: after the ride

Awards following the ride

Breakfast menu: biskets and gravy

Lunch menu: Chicken salad sandwiches, fruit, cookies

Photographer:Will be at the ride to take everyone`s pictures on trail. You can purchase pictures from Rhonda Fryer.

  • Entries limited to first 100.
  • Great prizes for 1st - 6th place Open/Pleasure/Junior divisions.

  • Voluntary $20 jackpot for open division at check-in.

Fees payable online:

  • CTC entry fee - $58 pleasure/$58 open/$43 junior/$40 Adult buddy/$35 junior buddy
  • New membership fee - $25 individual; $40 family of 2; $75 family of 4; additional horse - $10 ea.; additional rider - $10 ea.

Fees collected at check-in: meals, electrical hook ups and stall fees

State Park fee $5 per rider

Breakfast and Lunch $10

Electrical Hook Up: $25 for weekend

Stalls: $10 per horse for weekend (bring your own shavings)

Additional contests will be:

Best dressed dog ($5 at check-in)

Best dressed male/female

Best groomed horse

DIRECTIONS TO OUR RIDE: From Bandera, TX, travel south on State Highway 173, go across the Medina River and continue for approximately 1/4 mile to State Highway 1077, turn right and go 10 miles on Ranch Road 1077 to end of the black top. Continue on the caliche road and follow the park signs. Actual address is 10600 Bandera Creek Rd., Bandera, TX 78003.

Registration for this ride will close June 11, AT 5 PM, (2 days before the ride date). ABSOLUTELY NO MORE ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN FOR THIS RIDE AFTER THAT TIME. If we get to 100 riders before then, the ride will be closed prior to June 11.

If heavy rain expected, rain date will be decided later based on availability of the park, otherwise come prepared for some light rain and bring your slicker!
