Come ride a favorite hideaway of Jesse James on the Outlaw Trail. The deep canyons and ample tree cover surrounding Devil`s Nest created a meeting point and hideout area for Jesse James and his gang. Stories of Jesse James are very prominent here in Nebraska and it is believed that he buried quite a bit of loot in various locations throughout Nebraska, including Devil’s Nest. In one story, the Sheriff chased the gang across the Missouri river, but wouldn’t risk losing deputies by further pursuit. “Let the devils stay in their nest,” he reportedly said. “I’m not going to send my men there to be shot.”
Discovery Trails Ranch is a private recreational development located within the 1300 acres of Devil’s Nest with 23 miles of trails.
Kick the weekend off Friday afternoon. Set up camp, enjoy a meet and greet chuckwagon dinner and gather around the campfire. On Saturday, get your chores done then enjoy a Pancake Feed Brunch. Then get ready for a fun CTC! We are doing a afternoon ride so those who want to trailer in for that day only don’t have to get up so early. After the ride will be a chuckwagon dinner followed by awards, and some other activities still in the planning. Stay over till Sunday and enjoy more of the beautiful trails of the Discovery Trails Ranch or do some fishing. Meals are on your own on Sunday. Shoes are optional. Trails are natural and not too rocky. There is white crushed rock on some of the roads, but it can be avoided.
Horses may be kept in portable panels, tied to trailer or picket line between two trailers. There are a limited number of electrical hookups and stalls available. Your online registration reserves your electrical hook-up, primitive camping or stalls. On-site restroom and shower facilities included. Dogs must be leashed at all times and will not be allowed on the trails. Negative Coggins within 12 months and health certificates are required for all out-of-state horses except for those coming from South Dakota.
Grab your gear, brush your horse, call your friends and come hide out at Discovery Trails Ranch for an awesome weekend of trail riding and visiting with horse friends!
