The Ellis River Riders in Andover is proud to host one of Maine`s ACTHA Competition Trail Rides. Andover was the host of "The Best of America by Horseback" TV show in September of 2007, and this is every rider`s chance to come ride the trails from the show! The trail will be 5-8 miles and wonderfully marked for all riders. Natural water crossings will be a great opportunity for those challenging obstacles.

The facility has an outdoor arena, picnic pavilion and many picnic tables. Overnight camping is available at the Ellis River Riders grounds from Friday, July 30th thru Sunday, August 1st. (Camping is rough with only pit privy bathrooms). Price per night: $15.00.

Stalls are available for $10.00 per night and only 20 are available, so please reserve your stall as soon as possible. Portable paddocks are welcome. Parking is level and nice with lots of shady areas.

There is a printable camping/food reservation form at www.ellisriverriders.com. Please have your reservations in by no later than Saturday, July 17th.

For other meals, there is a small diner and general store within 2 miles of the event.

• New membership fee - $25 individual; $40 family of 2; $75 family of 4; additional horse - $10 ea.; additional rider - $10 ea.

DIRECTIONS FROM PORTLAND AREA: Take I295 N toward Falmouth. Take the Bucknam Rd exit, Exit 10, toward I-95/Maine Turnpike/US-1/Falmouth/ME-9/Cumberland. Turn slight left to take ramp toward US-1/Falmouth/I-495/Maine Tpke. Turn left onto Bucknam Road. Turn left onto US-1/Blue Star Memorial Hwy. Take ramp toward I-95/Lewiston/Kittery/Maine Turnpike. Merge onto Falmouth Spur (portions toll). Merge onto I-95 N/Gold Star Memorial Hwy/Maine Turnpike toward Lewiston/Augusta (portions toll). Take US-202/ME115/ME-4 exit, Exit 63, toward ME-26/Gray/New Gloucester. Take Tauburn/Lewiston/August exit, Exit 1. Take ramp toward Gray-Yarmouth/Poland Spring/Norway-So. Paris/Bethel. Turn slight right onto W Gray Rd/US-202/ME-115/ME-26A/ME-4. Continue to follow US-202/ME-4. Turn left onto Shaker Rd/ME-4. Turn slight right onto Shaker Rd/ME-26. Continue to follow ME-26. Turn right onto Paris St/ME-117/ME-26. Continue to follow ME-117/ME-26. Turn left onto ME-26/High St. Continue to follow ME-26. Turn right onto ME-232. Turn left onto US-2. Turn right onto Ellis River Rd/ME-5. Continue to follow ME-5. Turn left onto Airport Rd. Ellis River Riders Showground will be on your left.

DIRECTIONS FROM BANGOR AREA: Take I-95 S. Take ME-11/ME-100 exit, Exit 157, toward US-2/Newport/ME-7/Skowhegan/Sugarloaf area. Turn slight right onto ME-100/ME-11. Turn sharp left onto Main St/US-2. Continue to follow US-2 S. Turn left onto US-2 S/US-201 S/Madison Ave. Turn right onto US-2/US-201/Island Ave. Turn slight right onto W Front St/US-2/US-201A. Continue to follow US-2/US-201A. Turn right onto US-2/US-201A/ME-8/Main St. Continue to follow US-2. Turn left onto ME-4/US-2/ME-43/Main St. Continue to follow US-2 W. Turn left onto N Main St. Turn right onto Oxford Rd/ME-108. Continue to follow ME-108. ME-108 becomes US-2. Turn right onto Ellis River Rd/ME-5. Continue to follow ME-5. Turn left onto Airport Rd. Ellis River Riders Showground will be on your left.
