World Renowned Trail Ride Critic Dutch Henry`s Ride Proclamation for-
Maury Magic Riders-CTC- at the Why Not Ranch - Duck River TN - 6-19-2010
Howdy Folks,
Stephanie Geddie and the tireless volunteers from Maury Magic Riders are puttin` on an ACTHA sanctioned CTC. You know a casual, scenery takin` in, friend enjoyin`, horse lovin`, trail ride with an obstacle snuck in here and there. And by golly what a perfect time to check out the trails at the Why Not Ranch!
The American Competitive Trail Horse Association sanctions Competitive Trail Challenges all across the USA - easy going six to ten mile rides with a few obstacles mixed in to test your horse communicatin` skills. Riders and horses are judged as they tackle each obstacle. You can win fistfuls of ACTHA Bucks and other first-rate prizes on ride day - And pile up ACTHA points for you and your horse toward, Year End National and Regional Awards and cash! -- There will be over 300 ACTHA rides in 2010, so point buildin` will be a cinch! Check out ACTHA at www.actha.us to learn more - like the fact that this year ACTHA has donated over $100,000 to horse rescues and charities!
Drift in anytime Friday and set up camp, or if you`re old bones prefer the Bunkhouse or the Shack, the Why Not Ranch can arrange that too! Please call 931-583-9188 to make those arrangements. (Call early the cabins go quickly) Check their website www.whynotranch.com too. All the facilities at Why Not Ranch are available for you to enjoy all weekend, including the large arena, if you want to practice a little. There`ll be a Get-Ta-Know-Ya campfire at the Pavilion. Bring your guitar, fiddle, or piano and make a little music, roast a dog, or marshmallow. Heck, just have a swell time.
Saturday kicks off with breakfast in the Pavilion at 8am, prepared and shoveled out by the parents of kids enrolled in the Maury Magic Riders programs. Ride briefing at 9 - Ride out at 10:00am.-- The course Stephanie has mapped out starts uphill out of camp and the trails are wide enough to ride two abreast, so chattin` while you ride will be easy. She`s mixed in six natural obstacles along the route that follows the rolling hills and crosses a few streams.
After the ride, tend your horse, then grab your eatin` utensils and mosey to the Pavilion for another helpin` of Cowboy Chow. While you visit, brag, and wait for the judges to tally the scores, and hand out the awards, the Maury Magic Riders will put on a demonstration lesson with a student from their school.
Bring your fancy duds and a new hat because there`re prizes for the best dressed Gal and Guy. Best groomed horse and best dog`ll get awards too. And smile nice for the photographer. You can buy those Tin Types back at camp.
Folks this ride is a fundraiser for the Maury Magic Riders. A therapeutic riding school founded in 1998 whose motto is, "Through the Magic of Horses We Provide Smiles." Boy howdy, that may be one of the finest mottos I`ve ever heard! So come out and have a humdinger of a time and help make it possible for a few special horses to provide a bunch of check bustin` smiles on those kids! Check their website www.maurymagigriders.com.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR RIDE:
The Why Not is located off of Route 50 between Centerville and Columbia and is very close to the Natchez Trace.
From Route 50, look for a green sign that says “Shady Grove” and then look for the Duck River Market – a yellow building.
There is a road that runs parallel/next to with the Duck River Market and you want to turn onto this road. There are blue Post Office signs and no signs that mark this as Hoover Road
Stay on this paved road for approximately 5 miles.
Pass under the Natchez Trace bridges twice
After the 2nd bridge, the first road to your left will be New She Boss – turn left
The next road is Blue Buck – turn right and follow the signs to Why Not Ranch
ATTENTION: We will be holding the ride as scheduled. Blue Buck Creek Road leading out to the Why Not Ranch has sustained damage during the May 1 & 2 flood. Portions of the road have been washed out to the point that it is only passable for one vehicle at a time. We do feel that there should be no problem navigating this road, as long as everyone is careful. Please note that anyone driving on this road does so at your own risk. Maury Magic Riders, Inc, and The Why Not Ranch will assume no responsibility for damage or injury sustained while traveling to or from the event. If you have any questions please contact me at the above information.
Registration for this ride will close __June 17,2010___________(2 days before the ride date).
If heavy rain expected, rain date will be announced at time of cancellation, otherwise come prepared for some light rain and bring your slicker!
