Graham`s "AUGUST CTC"

LIMITED TO FIRST 40 REGISTRANTS!

This is the Third of Four planned Competitive Trail Challenges for 2010 at GEC!


The Graham Equestrian Center is located on Gunpowder Falls State Park in Glen Arm, Maryland. It is managed by the non-profit organization, "Friends of Gunpowder Falls State Park Graham Area Equestrian Center, Inc." Our mission is to provide a premier equine educational facility creating positive horse-human relationships.

The ACTHA Competitive Trail Challenges offer riders the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful trails of Gunpowder Falls State Park, meet new and familiar friends on the trails, and practice the skill of horse-human communication in a safe and fun environment!

Included in your registration fee is morning coffee and donut holes, a raffle, prizes, awards, and clinic.

A lunch special prepared by "Rump Dump Pit Beef" for $10.00 per person is also available. Lunch includes a cup of soup, pit beef sandwich, chips, cookies, and a drink.

Your ride concludes with a mini-clinic and Q & A with renowned natural horsemanship instructor Jim McDonald, CHA of "Training In Harmony With Horses" followed by the Awards Ceremony!

There is overnight primitive camping and a limited number of stalls available for a nominal rental fee.

PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER AND PAY ONLINE TO PARTICIPATE.

There is no Day-Of-Event Registration.

Horse Health Requirements:

ü All horses must have proof of negative Coggins test (within past 12 months) - MD State law.

ü All horses using stalls must also provide proof of VETERINARIAN record of vaccinations including the Rhinopneumonitis virus, Rabies, and Strangles. NO EXCEPTIONS! Recommended vaccinations (in addition to the Rhino, Rabies and Strangles) include Influenza, Tetanus, WNV and EEE.

ü All horses must be free from apparent contagious disease including but not limited to ringwork, pinkeye, warts, mange, sore mouth, respiratory infection and contagious hoof infections. - MD State law.

Ride Details:

ü Check-in Saturday evening between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. or Sunday morning beginning at 7:00 a.m.

ü The Trail Ride takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours; 5 miles

ü Waiver of liability must be signed by all persons on the premises whether you are riding or not.

ü Photographer will be available to take everyone`s pictures on the trail. You may purchase these photos directly from the photographer (details available at the event).


Agenda (tentative):

7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.: Registration / Complementary coffee and donut holes

9:00 a.m.: Riders Briefing (ALL riders must attend to participate.)

10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Ride-Outs (groups of 6 riders or less @ 15 minute intervals)

12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.: Lunch

3:00 p.m.: Clinic

3:30 p.m.: Awards Ceremony

OPEN, PLEASURE AND JUNIOR DIVISIONS!

- to enter this contest you must email me your birthdate (including year)

and for the Open Division Riders an opportunity to compete for CASH!

(6) JACKPOT for Open Division - $20.00 entry fee - optional participation

CTC Entry Fee (Buddy riders will not have their names included in Record Book)

$58 for Open and Pleasure division

$43 for Junior division

$40 for Adult Buddy division

$35 for Junior Buddy division

New Membership Fee (You must be an ACTHA member to participate)

$10 additional horse

Fees collected on Day of Event:

Cash or personal checks ONLY - no credit card payments accepted.

(1) Overnight parking (primitive camping): $10.00 - includes trailers, campers, tents, etc.

(2) Stall Rental: Bedding provided by GEC; Rider must provide own buckets, hay, and grain. Rider responsible for cleaning stall.

TWELVE STALLS AVAILABLE: $35.00 per horse ($10.00 refundable if stall stripped clean)

TWO-STALL Exterior Barn in Paddock: $75.00 ($20.00 refundable if barn stalls stripped clean)

Directions to Facility:

Located just 2 miles north of the Baltimore Beltway, Graham Equestrian Center is easily accessible to everyone in the Baltimore-DC-Philadelphia corridor. Take Exit 31B from I-695 (Harford Road/Carney). Proceed north on Harford Road, passing through two intersections with traffic lights (Joppa Road, Northwind Road). The entrance to the Center will be on your right (you will see a large sign and three-board fencing indicating GEC). The driveway is rough (potholes), uphill, and curves. It is a tree lined entrance. Please proceed at 10-15 miles per hour when entering or exiting the property. Trailer parking is past the barn - follow parking signs.

REMINDERS: Registration for this ride will close on Thursday, August 12! If heavy rain or thunderstorms expected, the ride will be rescheduled for Sunday, August 22. If light rain only come prepared for the ride - remember your slickers!
