Franklin Family Ranch CTC, Blanco, Texas
Find out why this is one of the favorite venues for ACTHA. Exotics, georgeous Hill Country scenery and facilities that will make you think you`re at the Hilton!
This one always fills up quickly!
June 26, 2010
The 2500-acre Franklin Family Ranch is the jewel of the Texas Hill Country, with rolling hills, plentiful wildlife, and scenic vistas. Conveniently located 10 miles east of Blanco between San Antonio and Austin, the ranch hosts numerous equestrian events throughout the year and draws in hundreds of riders from the area. The ranch offers camping, fishing, hunting, an arena, horse training, horse boarding, event rooms, and accommodations for 75 visitors. Shoes or boots are recommended for the rocky terrain.
Riding Weekend!
The FFR is offering not only a spectacular ACTHA CTC, but also an entire weekend of horseback fun. Friday evening at 6:30 you and your trusty steed will head to the 450 acre main pasture where the exotic animals live. You will see black buck, axis deer, nilgia, eland, water buck and other wild game.
On Saturday morning, you will be served breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by the CTC judge`s briefing at 9 a.m. Ride-out starts at 10. Ride the scenic trail and try your hand at some unique obstacles. Lunch is served and prizes are awarded after the ride. The ACTHA CTC is limited to the first 100 riders. There will be great prizes for 1st - 6th places in the open, youth, and pleasure divisions. Open riders may contribute $20 to a voluntary jackpot.
But wait! The fun isn`t over, yet! On Sunday, you and your team can participate in horseback geocaching. Horseback geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt on horseback using a GPS. We will give your team a list of coordinates and your team will use a GPS to locate the treasure box (cache) associated with each set of coordinates. The event is timed, so the team finding the most caches in three hours is the winner. In this fast-paced and challenging event, you will blaze new trails and test your powers of observation. Teams are 2-4 people. A limited number of GPSes will be available for rent at the event. For more information on geocaching, in general, go to www.geocaching.com.
If you want a more relaxing Sunday activity, how about a leisurely trail ride? Sign up for the Sunday trail ride for a relaxed stroll through several hundred acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country and just enjoy the view.
PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE TO PARTICIPATE. If you need assistance in signing up, please call Catharine at 512-788-0280 or Nicole at 512-826-4862 for questions.

If it is lightly raining, put your slickers on and head out! If there is too much rain making the trail unsafe, we will conduct a competition close to camp with a horse show format, if the facilities are available. If not, the ride will be rescheduled.
