Louise Merrick Memorial CTC (10-10-2009)

10-10-2009

Hill Country State Natural Area
Bandera, TX

The Hill Country State Natural Area, a part of Texas Parks and Wildlife, provides over 5000 acres of scenic mountain riding along rocky ledges as well as on lowland and wooded areas. The park boasts 40-50 miles of trails to explore on horseback and shoes are recommended.  Ms Louise Merrick donated the majority of this natural area to Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. over 30 years ago and we honor her love of horses by naming our CTC after this generous equestrian.   Our first CTC event will be headquartered at  Chapas group camp which has parking and overnight spaces in a large open field  with limited electric hook-up and well water provided to all by our troughs or your buckets. There chemical toilets but no shower facilities.  The social area is a cement floored barn with picnic tables there and under an area covered by live oak trees.  Riders are welcome to come in the afternoon before as well as stay until 2pm on Sunday to ride on their own.

Our money will go to HCSNAP Hill Country State Natural Area Partners,  the parks friends’ group.  Carey Reed is the president and she will be the show secretary as well as other help.
