Mantle Ranch

Join us at the Mantle Ranch, home of Montana Horses, Inc., The Ultimate Horse Course, and "The Last Great American Horse Drive" for Montana`s first ACTHA Trail Challenge, September 26th.   Enjoy this beautiful and fun fall ride through our ranch at the headwaters of the Missouri River and along the Horseshoe Hills.  Begin and end at the entrance to the Course, then lace through the foothill ranch trails to the top-of-the-world vista, where you`ll see four mountain ranges and miles of river.  Gorgeous country, friendly and supportive competition, and a great ride with friends and family. 

Montana Horses at Thee Forks, MT...Not Just  A One-Horse Town.TM 

Our trail is just over six miles long and has six obstacles.  Terrain is foothill country, ranch trails and soft cowpaths, rocky trails, water crossings, wooded and open country, and some moderately steep climbs.  Shoes are advised.  (We have excellent trail horses available for lease for this event, $125.  We will discount your lease fee by $25 with any ACTHA memberhsip that lists one of our horses.  Call us or see www.montanahorses.com for lease info.)   Pens and electrical hookups are available at the Fairgrounds in Three Forks (14 miles from the ranch), reserve with us.  Motels in town are the Broken Spur (near the Fairgrounds) 406 285-3237 or the Sacajawea Hotel 406 285-6515.  We have limited cabins w/pens available for $75 per night at the ranch, reserve ahead.  Ample trailer parking available at the ranch. 

This is a “Casual Competition”, not a race or timed event. The trail can be completed liesurely with plenty of time to smell the roses and visit with friends.

And remember up to 50% of ACTHA proceeds go to Horse Charities in your state. Heaven knows they need the help!

Montana Horses is home to The Ultimate Horse Course, a permanent extreme trail challenge course that you can use throughout the summer to practice your trail skills ($35 per rider/per day, by appointment) and perfect your horsemanship.  Our Course has 25 trail obstacles, moderate to difficult, over about 40 acres.  The final `09 Ultimate Horse Course Extreme Trail Challenge is August 29th.  

MONTANA HORSES COMPETITIVE TRAIL CHALLENGE - SEPTEMBER 26th

Check-in Saturday morning 8am - 10am.
Rider`s briefing: 10:30 am
Ride out: 11:00am - 12:00pm
Trail will take about 2 - 2 1/2 hours, 6-7 miles
Dinner and Awards following the ride - approximately 3-4pm.

Photographer will be at the ride to take everyone`s pictures on trail. You can purchase pictures...

Entries limited to first 100.
$525 in cash awards & great prizes for 1st - 6th place.

Fees payable online:
CTC entry fee - $53 pleasure/$78 open/$43 junior/$40 Adult buddy/$35 junior buddy
New membership fee - $25 individual $40 family of 2

Fees collected at check-in: meals, electrical hook ups and pen fees.
$15 for dinner - by Cow Camp Catering, please reserve ahead for a plate count.
Electrical Hook Up: $10.00/day and/or Pens: $18/horse/night - located at the Fairgrounds in Three Forks
