Our COMMITMENT TO HORSES
The American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) is a qualified 501(c)3 charitable organization with a simple mission based on the fundamental belief that a horse with a job is a horse with a home, security and a future. Through our events, we take a proactive role in addressing the unwanted horse crisis by encouraging and rewarding horse owners who get their horses out and working.
Our in-hand division is targeted for both rideable and non-rideable equines, specifically including greenies, ponies, minis, mules and donkeys. With 1000 annual rides on the books, ACTHA is currently the largest holder of equine events throughout the USA, and growing in Canada.
THE CHOICE IS EASY
Our members, hosts, volunteers & donors form a powerful force supporting the cause of full equine employment. 20% of ACTHA's share of every member rider entry fee is donated to equine charities across the US and Canada, and selected by each Ride Host.
28,385 horses are currently registered with ACTHA. Among them are 1,432 rescue horses.
Hundreds of thousands more horses across North America remain homeless, in rescues or worse.

Thank you for your donation, which will help us in our mission of addressing the unwanted horse crisis. To date, ACTHA has donated over $500,000 to 500+ charities across the US and Canada. In addition, we work tirelessly to proactively create value in the Great American Trail Horse by holding fun events where horses of any breed can be registered and achieve points that remain with the horse for life. Our medals program provides goals and incentives that reward the achievements of horse and rider teams. Scoring and points are awarded based on skillful horsemanship, willingness of the horse and the overall communication and partnership between horse and rider. We provide the structure for horses to gain skills, and improve ride-ability and performance. While these traits are valuable in all horses, these are the keys to creating value in horses that were previously unemployed or under employed. We are extremely grateful for your gift.
