My Friends Attending (0):

We will be hosting a CTC on Saturday, 7/13 and this AOC on Sunday, 7/14. There should be some activity for just about everybody! The AOC will occur at the fairgrounds with obstacles in the arena and the surrounding field. In addition to this day's competition, there are lots of fun activities available in the surrounding countryside--hiking, biking, swimming (for horses and riders), kayaking, canoeing, fishing, etc. If you want a wonderful vacation weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains, be sure to join us!

Note also the New Castle, VA CTC on Saturday July 13. Check out the ride for more info on the accompanying weekend activities--primitive camping Friday and Saturday, the mounted clinics on Friday and Saturday evenings, and on Saturday night many of the ACTHA obstacles will be available for play and practice. Primitive camping is $15/Friday night or $25.00 for the weekend. Meals will be served all weekend. For more details, check out the CTC listing for the New Castle, VA ride.

Directions:

If in doubt because of inclement weather, Call before you haul.: (540) 864-7071

DO NOT FOLLOW GPS--it does not take into account steep mountain roads, curves and dead ends.

From the north, east and south: take I-81 to exit 141. At end of ramp, turn toward New Castle/Catawba. Go about .2 miles to the light, and turn right onto Rt. 311 North (following signs to New Castle/Catawba. Go 20 miles. As you approach New Castle, the speed limit will drop to 35 mph. Go 1 and 1/2 blocks, and the fairgrounds are on your right.

From southwest--one option is to take Rt. 460 to rt. 42. This route does involve some steep hairpin turns. Rt. 42 intersects Rt. 311 in the center of New Castle. Turn right and go 4 blocks to the fairgrounds on your left.

From west and northwest--When hauling a trailer I prefer to take Rt. 220 to I-81, exit 141 and follow the above directions. There are alternatives, but they involve steep mountain roads and hairpin curves. If you want additional information on these alternative routes, please call me.
